From 2014 until Timothy Yee’s firing in 2015, Timothy Yee worked for LPL Financial LLC. Timothy Yee was previously licensed with SII Investments, Inc. Timothy Yee is now licensed with Independent Financial Group, LLC. According to FINRA’s records, Timothy Yee was discharged from LPL Financial LLC on May 26, 2015. LPL Financial LLC reported to FINRA that Timothy Yee was accused of participating in private securities transactions without providing written disclosure to and obtaining written approval from the Firm.
Subsequent to Timothy Yee’s firing by LPL Financial LLC, FINRA investigated Timothy Yee and brought a disciplinary action against Timothy Yee. Timothy Yee was suspended for 15 days from the securities and investment banking industry and fined $7,500 on January 13, 2016. FINRA reports that Timothy Yee consented to the sanctions and to the entry of findings that Timothy Yee, along with Timothy Yee’s spouse, participated in private securities transactions by purchasing securities in privately-held companies using personal funds without providing written notice to Timothy Yee’s member firm and obtaining its approval. The findings stated that Timothy Yee inaccurately stated on a questionnaire Timothy Yee submitted to the firm that Timothy Yee had not participated in any private securities transactions for personal investment or otherwise. The findings also stated that Timothy Yee solicited the firm’s customers to invest in a company without providing written notice to or receiving approval from Timothy Yee’s firm to solicit investors for the company. According to FINRA, none of the customers invested in the company.
