Seyed Hashemian has been licensed with Centaurus Financial, Inc. since October 2009. Seyed Hashemian was censured and fined $10,000 by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) in May 2010. Seyed Hashemian consented to the entry of FINRA findings that Seyed Hashemian acted as a broker for a customer in variable life settlements. Additionally, Seyed Hashemian consented to FINRA findings that Seyed Hashemian never informed the customer of the gross purchase price for any of the transactions, and Seyed Hashemian also never informed the customer of the amount of the commissions Seyed Hashemian received from the customer in one of the life settlements, which was not conducted through Seyed Hashemian’s member firm. According to FINRA, in each of the life settlements, the purchase agreement only stated the net purchase price received by the customer.
FINRA reports that an arbitration claim against Centaurus Financial, Inc. and First Allied Securities, Inc. was filed alleging suitability, fraudulent or negligent material misrepresentations and omissions of material information, violation of FINRA Rules 2010, IM-2310-2, and 2020; violation of the New Mexico Unfair Practices Act; and violation of section 11 of the Securities Act of 1933. First Allied Securities, Inc. settled the part of the claim involving Seyed Hashemian’s conduct with First Allied Securities, Inc. for $130,000. The part of this arbitration claim involving Seyed Hashemian’s conduct with Centaurus Financial, Inc. did not settle and proceeded to final hearing. The arbitration panel issued a $150,000 plus interest award against Centaurus Financial, Inc. The arbitration panel found that Seyed Hashemian negligently and fraudulently made material misrepresentations and omissions of material information in the sale of investments to a customer.
FINRA also reports a number of other settlements of claims involving Seyed Hashemian’s conduct. One of these arbitration claims involving Seyed Hashemian’s conduct settled for $282,446.46.
FINRA also reports that First Allied Securities, Inc. terminated Seyed Hashemian because of allegations that involved sharing commissions with unaffiliated person(s) in violation of First Allied Securities, Inc. policy.
