Roshan Perera a/ka/ SURAGE KAMAL ROSHAN PERERA (CRD: 4716321, is charged by the Securities and Exchange Commission for Fraud.
Former broker Roshan Perera has been charged by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for defrauding an investor out of millions.
The SEC alleges that Perera lied about investment opportunities and used funds from other sources to give the victim promised returns in a Ponzi-like scheme. The SEC has obtained a temporary restraining order and asset freeze.
According to the SEC’s complaint, Perera allegedly used a significant portion of the investor’s funds for speculative trading. Roshan Perera allegedly misappropriated at least $3.3 million. Perera concealed these losses by providing phony confirmations and account statements to the investor.
In addition to the SEC charges, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York has announced criminal charges against Perera.
