From 2009 until Steven Fonda’s firing in 2017, Steven Fonda was licensed with Waddell & Reed, Inc. According to FINRA records, Steven Fonda was discharged from Waddell & Reed on January 12, 2017. Waddell & Reed, Inc. reported to FINRA that Steven Fonda violated firm policies including the unauthorized use of discretion in client accounts and attempting to settle a client complaint without written approval from the Firm.
FINRA reports that an arbitration claim was filed, alleging Steven Fonda invested an account in a manner subjecting the account to risk without the client’s knowledge, resulting in losses to the account. This claim involving Steven Fonda’s conduct with Waddell & Reed, Inc. settled for $140,000.
FINRA also reports that an arbitration claim involving Steven Fonda’s conduct with Waddell & Reed, Inc. is currently pending. The client alleges that Steven Fonda was negligent in handling his account, exercised discretion without authorization, and placed him in unsuitable investments. This claim seeks $100,000 in damages.
