In January 2016, Edward Durante, a recidivist securities law violator, was indicted, along with financial advisors Larry Werbel, Sheik Khan, and Christopher Cervino. The indictment alleged, among other things, that Larry Werbel, Sheik Khan and Christopher Cervino perpetrated a scheme to defraud more than 100 investors of at least $15 million by soliciting funds, including, but not limited to investments in Q Lotus Holdings, Inc. (“QLTS”) with false and misleading representations and omissions, and by failing to invest investors’ funds as promised. The indictment also alleged that Larry Werbel, Sheik Khan, and Christopher Cervino manipulated the market in the public stock of Q Lotus Holdings, Inc. (“QLTS”) for purposes of advancing the scheme to defraud investors and enriching themselves.
Edward Durante pleaded guilty in August 2016 to various crimes, including conspiracy, securities fraud, money laundering and perjury. Larry Werbel recently pled guilty to securities fraud, and Christopher Cervino and Sheik Khan were recently found guilty by a jury of securities fraud.
Larry Werbel was licensed with Summit Brokerage Services, Inc., Sheik Khan was licensed with Ameritas Investment Corp., and Christopher Cervino was licensed with COR Clearing LLC.
