Goodman & Nekvasil P.A., May Recover Investor Losses – Maryellen Oram Trotter Lindley (Maryellen Trotter Lindley) a/k/a Mary Ellen Oram and Mary Ellen Trotter Suspended from Securities Industry and Fired by Centaurus Financial, Inc.

From 2003 until Maryellen Trotter Lindley’s firing in 2013, Maryellen Trotter Lindley was licensed with Centaurus Financial, Inc. Maryellen Trotter Lindley was subsequently licensed with Sandlapper Securities, LLC. According to FINRA’s records, Maryellen Trotter Lindley was fired on May 2, 2013. Centaurus Financial, Inc. reported to FINRA that Maryellen Trotter Lindley was accused of appearing to have shared commissions with non-licensed persons in contravention of Firm policy and industry rules and regulations. Additionally, Maryellen Trotter Lindley was accused of conducting unapproved client seminars in violation of Firm policies and procedures.

Subsequent to Maryellen Trotter Lindley’s firing by Centaurus Financial, Inc. FINRA investigated Maryellen Trotter Lindley and brought a disciplinary action against Maryellen Trotter Lindley. Maryellen Trotter Lindley was suspended for 12 months from the securities and investment banking industry and fined $10,000 on June 20, 2014. FINRA reports that Maryellen Trotter Lindley consented to the sanctions and to the entry of findings that Maryellen Trotter Lindley shared commissions with unregistered individuals, which were generated from securities business that the individuals referred to her. The findings stated that Maryellen Trotter Lindley invested approximately $1,188,000 on behalf of customers in investments and she earned approximately $90,802 from these sales. According to FINRA, The customers were referred to Maryellen Trotter Lindley by the unregistered individuals, who were accountants that provided accounting services to Maryellen Trotter Lindley. According to FINRA, Maryellen Trotter Lindley paid 50 percent of the commissions earned on these investments to the accountants, individually and to their accounting firm. According to FINRA, the accountants and the accounting firm were not registered with FINRA at the time of the commission payments. The findings also stated that Maryellen Trotter Lindley failed to disclose this practice to Maryellen Trotter Lindley’s member firm in firm questionnaires that Maryellen Trotter Lindley completed. According to FINRA, Maryellen Trotter Lindley also denied the commission-splitting arrangement in response to FINRA’s requests for information.
