Goodman & Nekvasil P.A, May Recover Investor Losses | Giovanni Acevedo, Financial Advisor Barred from Securities Industry

From 2006 until Giovanni Acevedo’s discharge in 2014, Giovanni Acevedo was licensed with ING Financial Partners, Inc n/k/a Voya Financial Advisors, Inc. According to FINRA’s records, Giovanni Acevedo was fired by ING Financial Partners, Inc. on August 12, 2014. ING Financial Partners, Inc. reported to FINRA that in the course of investigating allegations in a FINRA arbitration, ING Financial Partners, Inc. discovered that Giovanni Acevedo did not follow firm policies, including failing to report criminal charges, tax liens and a civil judgment. ING Financial Partners, Inc. decided it no longer wished to supervise Giovanni Acevedo.

Following Giovanni Acevedo’s firing, FINRA investigated Giovanni Acevedo and brought a disciplinary action against Giovanni Acevedo. Giovanni Acevedo was permanently barred from the securities and investment banking industry on February 8, 2016. Giovanni Acevedo consented to the sanction and to FINRA findings that Giovanni Acevedo converted more than $160,000 from people, including customers, for his own personal use. The findings stated that Giovanni Acevedo also provided false information to FINRA during its investigation of Giovanni Acevedo’s conversion of funds. The findings also stated that Giovanni Acevedo failed to provide information requested by FINRA during the course of its investigation.  

FINRA also reports that two complaints and/or arbitration claims have been filed involving Giovanni Acevedo’s conduct with ING Financial Partners, Inc. alleging fraud, conversion, and/or negligent investment advice. Both of these complaints and/or arbitration claims settled, with the largest settling for $220,000.
