Call 800-500-4442 if you think that you have received unsuitable investment recommendations from your adviser.

MICHAEL STEPHEN SCHOOLCRAFT (CRD#: 6375300), a former investment adviser for MML INVESTORS SERVICES, LLC, in Lisle, IL, is barred from associating with a FINRA member in all capacities.

According to Schoolcraft’s FINRA BrokerCheck report, Without admitting or denying the findings, Schoolcraft consented to the sanction and to the entry of findings that he refused to produce information and documents requested by FINRA in connection with its investigation into personal loans from customers. The findings stated that Schoolcraft initially cooperated with FINRA’s investigation, however, he ceased doing so.

FINRA restricts loans between brokers and customers because these financial arrangements can create significant conflicts of interest.  These potential conflicts can increase the risk of investor abuse.

FINRA Rule 3240 generally prohibits borrowing from or lending to customers unless a narrow exception applies and the arrangement complies with the brokerage firm’s written supervisory procedures.

These safeguards are intended to protect investors and help brokerage firms identify and prevent conflicts of interest.

Did Your Financial Advisor Ask You For A Personal Loan?

Investors who believe a financial advisor improperly solicited or accepted a loan, or otherwise placed personal financial interests ahead of their clients, should consider having their accounts reviewed by the securities attorneys at Goodman & Nekvasil, P.A. to determine whether they may have claims to recover investment losses through FINRA arbitration.
