John Tillotson – Financial Advisor John Tillotson Suspended from Securities Industry | Goodman & Nekvasil P.A., May Recover Investor Losses

John Tillotson CRD #1320717

John Tillotson is a financial advisor who is licensed with Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, Incorporated. John Tillotson was previously licensed with Morgan Stanley. According to FINRA, John Tillotson was fined $5,000 and was suspended from the securities industry for fifteen days in August 2019.

According to FINRA Allegations:

FINRA Rule 2010 requires associated persons to “observe high standards of commercial honor and just and equitable principles of trade.” Impersonating customers is inconsistent with this standard and constitutes a violation of Rule 2010.

In December 2018, five customers signed documents to transfer their simple IRA accounts, held at a mutual fund company, to a new 401(k) plan provided by Morgan Stanley. Tillotson received permission from these five customers to directly contact the mutual fund company in the event additional information was necessary to complete the transfers. Thereafter, Tillotson impersonated the five customers during five telephone calls to the mutual fund company to obtain the information necessary to complete the transfers. Although the customers gave Tillotson permission to obtain this information, they did not give Tillotson permission to impersonate them with the mutual fund company.

By virtue of the foregoing, John Tillotson violated FINRA Rule 2010.
