James Scullin was licensed with UBS Financial Services, Inc. from 2011 to 2014. Reported by FINRA on May 24, 2016, James Scullin, was suspended from the securities industry and fined $15,000.
FINRA reports James Scullin consented to the sanctions and to the entry of findings that James Scullin placed an unauthorized trade in a customer’s account. The findings stated that James Scullin did not have discretionary authority for any of the accounts for the customer. FINRA reports that James Scullin placed the trade of over $5,000,000 without informing the individuals with authority to place trades in the account or seeking their authorization. FINRA reports that when one of the individual’s with authority over the account questioned the trading activity in the account, James Scullin concealed the unauthorized trade. FINRA reports that when James Scullin’s member firm questioned him about the trade, he initially concealed the fact that it was unauthorized, but later admitted to the firm that the trade was not authorized.
