From 2011 until his firing in 2014, Derek Prater was licensed with Edward Jones. According to FINRA’s records, Derek Prater was fired by Edward Jones on February 11, 2014. Edward Jones reported to FINRA that Derek Prater was fired for violating firm policy by using discretion in client accounts as well as providing inaccurate information during a compliance investigation.

Following Derek Prater’s discharge by Edward Jones, FINRA investigated Derek Prater and brought a disciplinary action against Derek Prater. Derek Prater consented to a 2-year suspension and a $17,500 monetary fine. Derek Prater also consented to findings that he violated FINRA rules by engaging in unauthorized trading, improper discretionary trading and making false statements to Edward Jones.
