Anselmo Contreras was previously licensed with IFS Securities, Cambridge Investment Research, Inc. and Commonwealth Financial Network. FINRA reports that Anselmo Contreras was barred from the securities industry in April 2019.
According to FINRA: Anselmo Contreras consented to the sanction and to the entry of findings that Anselmo Contreras misused and converted customer funds. The findings stated that Anselmo Contreras induced a customer of his member firm to give him a $10,000 check to invest in a real estate venture. However, Anselmo Contreras deposited the check into his personal bank account, and then used the customer’s money for Anselmo Contreras’ own personal use without the customer’s knowledge or consent. The findings also stated that Anselmo Contreras borrowed $30,000 from firm customers without the knowledge or approval of the firm.
According to Anselmo Contreras’ CRD, Anselmo Contreras was permitted to resign from Cambridge Investment Research, Inc. According to Anselmo Contreras’ CRD, Anselmo Contreras was permitted to resign due to failure to report a private securities transaction and settling a customer complaint.
