Dexter Thomas was a formerly licensed financial advisor with United Planners’ Financial Services of America, LPL Financial LLC and National Planning Corporation in Dallas, Texas. United Planners Financial Services of America reported to FINRA that Dexter Thomas was discharged on August 2, 2018. United Planners Financial Services of America reported to FINRA that Dexter Thomas affiliated with the Firm in late-2017. A short period of time later, Dexter Thomas passed away. Immediately before his death, Dexter Thomas disclosed that he was involved with a number of private loans or private investments with individuals-some of whom became customers of the Firm-which private loans or investments were neither disclosed to, nor approved by, the Firm. Dexter Thomas’ affiliation was terminated by the Firm. After the Dexter Thomas’ death, a number of individuals, including customers new to the Firm, have claimed that the Dexter Thomas did not return all of the funds privately loaned to or invested with Dexter Thomas.

FINRA also reports that 13 customer disputes involving Dexter Thomas’ conduct are currently pending. Among other allegations, these pending disputes allege violation of the Texas Securities Act, negligence in making unsuitable recommendations, engaging in manipulative and deceitful conduct, and breach of duties. One of these pending disputes alleges damages of $8,100,000.
